Any trail guide will have a preference of trails, will know some areas of the country better than others, and if good at the trade, the guide’s goal will be to share the trip in such a way that each traveler on the journey will experience the best of the country. Such is the goal of "Meditation Is More Than You Think".
This course contains information about meditation: some of the effects most often realized, some pitfalls to avoid, some quotations about meditation, and most importantly, some examples of meditation styles, so each participant can metaphorically smell the air, enjoy the scenery and experience different kinds of meditation. By experiencing a broad array of possible techniques, the participant can choose one or more to use and delve into deeper, as a regular spiritual practice. Therefore, this is a survey course. It exposes participants to a wide variety of meditations, and it incorporates cultures and practices, which are much older than The Science of Mind.
Ultimately, its purpose is to touch different meditation styles in such a way that participants can identify one or more that work best for their personality and lifestyle.
While on this journey, whether you have never meditated, or if you have meditated for years, it is important to remember:
If your mind is empty, it is always ready for anything:
It is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind
there are many possibilities; in the experts’
mind there are few.
~ Shunryu Suzuki, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind
In meditation, as it is with many disciplines, it is important to enter into the study with an open mind, a "Beginner’s Mind."
Enjoy your journey. Out of the many I have taken, it is the most worthwhile.
Best Blessings,
